How important is it to you that City Council be involved in the process? How vital an issue do you believe this is to the Sarnia Lambton area? How do you feel you could contribute in influencing the OPA's direction?
As Proud member of the Sarnia Lambton Community I feel it’s very important, That Our City and County council be involved this process. The 2 units at Lambton Generating Station retrofitted with clean air technology have proven effective in emissions reductions, almost within those of natural gas. The Canadian Federal government indicates that we now have the technology to make clean coal a reality. And the Lambton Generating Station has proven this reality. Not only is the Lambton Generating Station providing clean service to the Provinces it is also providing careers to our community and putting much needed funds into our economy.
In order to influence the OPA’s direction we must continue to remind them that as stated in Bill 100, The mandate of those planning for the future of provincial power is to “protect the interests of consumers with respect to prices and the adequacy, reliability and quality of electricity service.” The OPA must make decisions for the future electricity supply without negatively impacting the economy of Ontario. Stability of fuel cost and supply will determine future pricing... I also would like to applaud the co chairs Carol Chudy & Susan Grant along with all the members of The Clean Affordable Energy Alliance for submitting there input to the Ontario Power Authority. And suggest the city do the same
