Your smart bringing up an article 7 years ago mpp guest and do you know details of what happened since then in parliament. Did you know the conservatives were in power then. Did you know that pensions were taken away from mpp s since then and they abolished mpps pensions because of what you wrote.

it's amazing the people who write on this site. It's amazing how much complaining is brought forward. it's amazing how little everyone does in action. I give full credit to Caroline Di Cocco for putting her complaints into action. It's why she is a minister of parliament. There are many people who want to take her down. Why you ask?? Cause she's good. Many are jealous and angry that she is good at what she does. It's how she reaches out to the community face to face that gets her elected. It's not trash talking and complaining that dean robinson instigates. She uses intelligent ways, constructive and understanding approaches. Going to countless functions in the community. People like dean robinson and carlos murray have made attempts to get elected but trash talking is a negative in the public eye and to be honest they will never get elected because of that. I'm one of the 22000 people that voted for caroline and to be honest i don't necessarily like some of the decisions the liberals have made but i like the intensity that caroline works. Her 4 year old grandaughter was on life support in florida last march. Caroline was the first on the plane to see her. Both of her parents passed away a few months ago. She went threw more in the last year and half on a personal note than people can imagine and still managed over 102 million last year in new investments not including the hospital. That is 13 times more than previous MPPs for this area. The observer is provincially conservative so you'll never hear anything positive. She was asked to become a minister last year and as a community we should support the accessibility she has to the premier whether we like him or not. Instead the editors in the observer call her a funding fairy for the amount of dollars brought here. Let's make fun of people that bring money to a community is the observers attitude. The government of italy makes Caroline Di Cocco a Knight of the republic of italy. She is an official knight of the republic of italy. Another country recognizes this womens work but the media in sarnia portray her differently. The community recognizes her work but the media will always build up bradley and trash caroline. It's the way it is but she still wins. Again I would vote for caroline di Cocco because no one has convinced me on this site otherwise. Meet her in person and you'll see what i mean!!!!

Dean, caroline was parliamentary assistant to the premier for 7 months prior to becoming cabinet minister. Parliamentary assistant is a stepping stone for mpps to become ministers. When Gerrard Kennedy ran for the federal leadership race it opened up a position for the culture portfolio and she was asked to be a minister. She didn't sell out on her accountability bill because aspects of the bill are already in the municipal act. Her bill is alive and well and not only did she achieve success in her bill which is still being carried by another mpp, she managed to already put aspects of the bill into the municipal act which is alive and well today. Your friends on this site dean are a politically driven bunch who want DiCocco out. Glenn h is going to do anything and everything to make di cocco look bad. It's part of the game but Di cocco doesn't play the game. That's why I like her. When the groundbreaking of the hospital begins in the spring it will set a mark for what the provincial liberals have achieved in the community. The conservatives and ndp have failed to achieve this. If she didn't intervene with the hospital board and her government, this hospital would never be built. I think it is a huge success for the community.

Caroline's record speaks for herself. I say kudos to people like glenn h who step up to the plate and point out the hypocrisy in people like Caroline. good riddance in october, caroline.

Yet again a reason to not vote for Caroline or any other Liberal.
There appears to be some confusion over whether the federal child tax benefit clawback from Ontario social assistance cheques has been ended by the Dalton McGuinty government this week. Allow me to clear up the confusion: the clawback is still in full force.
On Thursday, Ontario Finance Minister Greg Sorbara announced a new Ontario Child Benefit for low income families. This means that in Ontario, there will be both a federal and a provincial benefit for low income families with children.
People on social assistance will continue to have the federal benefit clawed back from their welfare cheques. The new provincial benefit will not be clawed back. Ontario families who are not on social assistance will get both benefits. Ontario families on social assistance will receive the Ontario benefit (which is much smaller than the federal benefit), but the McGuinty Liberals will continue to clawback the federal child tax benefit from them.
Seems like a pretty clear and easy-to-understand policy, right?
Then why is the McGuinty government trying to confuse people by claiming that the new Ontario Child Benefit will “effectively end the current clawback of up to $122 per child per month from the National Child Benefit Supplement” according to “government officials” quoted in the Toronto Star on Friday?
The answer is simple. The Liberal government promised during the 2003 election campaign to end the child tax benefit clawback from the families who need it most desperately: social assistance recipients. As with many of their other promises, they did not follow through.
The Ontario Child Benefit is a very small but welcome addition to the social safety net in Ontario for low income families. But it's a pretty big stretch to claim, as Greg Sorbara does, that this $50 per month benefit, which doesn't even start until July of 2008, “takes children off welfare.” This July, families will receive a lump sum payment of $250 per child. For those of us with calculators at home, this works out to $20.83 per month. This, Sorbara claims, “transforms the system.” Doesn't sound all that revolutionary to me.
It does not address the fact that people on social assistance are still having their federal child tax benefit taken away from them by the Ontario government. It also does not address the fact that the McGuinty Liberals have broken yet another promise.
Don't let Dalton McGuinty or Greg Sorbara try to tell you otherwise.
