Sarnia has a population of roughly 73,000 people. Sarnia has eight councillors and a mayor. Is that too many?
That works out to one councillor for every 9125 residents. I don't know if the municipality has the power to reduce the number of councillors, but if they do, I'd like to see city hall reduced to four councillors and a mayor.
I don't think we need nine elected officials to conduct the city's business -- five will be more than sufficient. That would provide a direct savings of more than $25,000 per year in salaries alone. A savings of more than $100,000 over a four year term. Other costs would also be eliminated and that money could be put toward more important things like eliminating debt and lowering property taxes.
Too many bureaucrats spoils the broth. ;D

Yeah! And a Council of 5 would be much easier to buy off too!

Yeah! And a Council of 5 would be much easier to buy off too! You're confused Carlos. You'll be the mayor of this city. We all know that you could never be bought off!

Under "MY" plan, NO-ONE could be bought off!
