Commonly children are placed in the care of other family members or the CAS. Not all of us are cursed with nasty inlaws but a great many of us are. If one of your relatives obtains a support order against you while your child is under a temporary care and custody order the support order is unenforceable by the FRO (Family Responsibility Office). Child protection proceedings are governed by the Child and Family Services Act under which the judge issues temporary orders. Any orders for support which are not made under the CFSA are stayed pending the outcome of any child protection proceedings
