Looking for info or input. My child was given a 1 day suspension from elementary school for fighting. it says in the letter the other child started it and my child punched him in the face knocking him down. These two have been fighting since kindergarten. i thought under the law you had the right to defend yourself? Any suggestions the school is not helpful and I prop ably will have to write letter to school board.

Schools have a zero tolerance for fighting no matter who starts it. but I'll bet your son won't be bothered by that kid again. Sometimes you have to pay the price for other peoples children. I hope the other kid got suspended to, if not raise hell...

Yes other child suspended too, he told my child he is getting instructions in fighting from his cousin. Should take more lessons, my child has good punch from hours of sparring lessons. this boy was his bully for 4 years. couple more good punches sad to say he might learn to back off. Shouldn't have to come to that. I'm not advocating violence but no child should have to put up with constant bullying. Nor should a parent have to put there child in self defense class, but 1 to many punch in the mouth and trips to the dentist.

Mine always got suspended for defending herself, one of the boys pushed her down the slide she turned around hit him, she got suspended for 2 days the other kid got to stay in school. Then this other boy turns around, punches another in the face, causing him to bleed, didn't get suspended or nothing and his mother awarded him when he got home because she felt he was doing a good thing.

Sadly, a lot of the times the No Tolerance For Violence in schools is a joke. My DS was suspended from school for 3 days for pushing another child down the stairs. What got me was the girl who was pushed told the principal who the boy was that DID push her down, my DS's teacher informed the principal that he was IN HER CLASSROOM THE ENTIRE TIME and therefore could NOT have done it!! But the principal there at the time had it out for hubby and I because we were vocal and we fought for our DS's rights, and so took it out on him.
The last straw was the day I showed up at school to volunteer and heard a child crying. I went to check it out and the child was standing right outside the office door, bleeding from both elbows and both knees to the point of leaving PUDDLES on the floor.... while THREE teachers stood not 3 feet away laughing and talking.
IT WAS MY CHILD!!!!
I ripped him out of that school right then and there! Of course, they called the police, the truancy officer and CAS on me... but I won that round!!

I don't blame you at all for your actions. When I was in grade 5 I put my hand up in class and the teacher said she wanted me to stay in for recess. She wanted me to write "I will not interrupt the class" 100 times. I just sat there and did nothing. She came back in the class just before the bell rang, and saw that I had done nothing. She grabbed me by the neck through me against the black board and started slamming my head against the board. What she didn't know was most of the class was watching through the window, so when I told her to fuck off and get away from me it was just before the principal walked in. Which is what he heard, not my head hitting the board, just me saying fuck off. We'll I got suspended and given the strap. Yes back then they used the strap in school. All before even telling my parents. Several students had already called they're parents and it got back to my parents and about 4 sets of parents showed up at the school. When the principal and the teacher started to bullshit my parents and others there about what had happened, my brave class mates started piping up and the principal turned a light shade of gray when my father knocked him across his desk. The principal never even bothered to check my head because I was bleeding from the back of the head and when I finally got to the hospital I had a concussion (minor) Vision was blurred and had to stay overnight. Still have the scare to prove. Cops were called and the teacher charged with assault of a minor. Never saw the teacher again, and the principal apologized to me and the students and parents during a school meeting. If it had happened lately my parents would be alot more well off. What I'm proud of is the students standing up for a class mate, I will always remember them and they're parents. Recently with my kid's it was a teacher being anti Jewish in class. We're not Jewish but we will not tolerate such actions from teachers. Myself and 3 other fathers, including a Jewish father confronted the teacher. He lost his job. Just because they are teachers doesn't mean they know what they are doing, and it's up to parents to make sure they do the job right. Let your kids know they can tell you everything. Years ago a friends child was in high school and a teacher had grabbed him by the neck. He came home at lunch and was very upset. So my buddy and I went to the high school found the teacher and confronted him. Since he had no excuse my buddy gabbed him by the neck in the same way as he had done to his son. The teacher started squealing like a pig. Never bothered my buddy's child again. I was waiting for the police to show but the teacher must not of laid charges because he would of lost his job if he had. Most teachers I've run into lately are complete pro's and trully care for the kid's. Things have changed and safe guards are in place to cut down on such incidents. But damn that strap hurt!lol Can you imagine if they tried that now. (the strap) ??

Lol I'm not dunce hat old BUT do remember seeing the strap many times in the top drawer of teachers desk. I believe at that time (70's) in elementary school it could only be used on a child with parental consent. My parents notified school we were never to be corporally punished. My father had gotten the strap as a young child from his elbows to hands, he never forgot or forgave the teacher who did it.

Florida Georgia Line is my favourite country music band. Headliners Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley are those people that could make anyone sing along. That's why I like to attend their concerts. And - that's surprisingly beatiful - in 2019 they have CAN'T SAY IT AIN'T COUNTRY TOUR which covers all the US cities and towns. For more information visit Florida Georgia Tour Schedule.

Breaking Benjamin is my favourite rock-band of 90s. Breaking Benjamin had so many hits! The ones I remember are 'The Diary of Jane', 'Tourniquet' and, of course their hit 'So Cold'. These are real masterpieces, not garbage like today! And it is sooo good that they have a tour in 2019-2020! And I'm going to visit their concert in 2020. The full list is here: breakingbenjaminconcerts.com. Open the page and maybe we can even visit one of the Benjamin's together!
