What's wrong with the Ministry of Health wanting to phase out the old red and white health cards? I don't understand.

They gave out thousands of health cards to many and guess what we don't have enough ppl in Ontario to send out that many....they are try to fix their mistake at the tax payers expence...I have had my red and white for years, my son has a green one, but why should I have to go through all that paper work for the government to fix the problem they created. I kept my card safe all these years so I wouldnt have to go through all this crap, if I lost it then it would be my fault, but I didnt.
The government again is trying to pass the buck for their mistake and I as a Canadian am getting sick of being their scape goat....And if they deny me health care I will go to the papers. If it isnt broken dont fix it, so it must be really broken.....
Most of you wont have a problem going and waiting in line to get a health card and making sure you have all your information, but some people can't wait in lines because of sever health issues, and is OUR government willing to stand in that line for them, I THINK NOT...hmmmmmmmmm......................
Just another case of being screwed by the government.

But phasing out the red and white cards helps eliminate the cards that were issued to people who aren't entitled to free healthcare. It may very well be the case that you are helping the gov't fix a problem they created themselves, but by not standing in line, you're only helping them to make the problem worse. Do you really want to have people getting a free ride on your tax dollars?

This is nothing new. they have been phasing out the old cards for about 10 years. If severe health issues would prevent you from being in line, I'm sure they would try to help make it easier. Call them.

If you're in serious need of medical assistance, it doesn't matter what kind of card you have. Hell, you don't need a card at all. Hospitals are required to treat EVERYONE with a serious or life threatening malody. Same thing in the United States. If you walk in with a scrape on your finger, they will bother you about how you intend to pay. If you walk in with a gunshot wound however, they're not immediately concerned with how or if you'll pay them.

they are asking to get the green ones because they have a photo of you on it where as the old ones don't. My ex got his stolen and someone from quebec tried using it and pretended to be him. Thats one of the reasons they brought the green cards in less health care fraud.
