Thanks for the responce Carlos
The Observer is Beginning to tick me Off
Right on Dean. I wouldn't exactly call that bashing. At least not very deeply. I think you could have pretty much said the same thing without coming close to crossing your own rules by posting something along the lines of "The Sarnia Observer seems to be seriously lacking in
'JOURNALISTIC INTEGRITY'" (Do you think something like that would have seemed more suitable?)
DGI tend to read the letters to the Observer and I see thet have no problem letting people BasH the the Candidates. lol Me .So I decided to write in in responce.
here is my letter:
Fact Or Ficition
In Mondays October 23rd Paper I read one of the letters to the editor from (Shaun Larocque) after reading this letter I was inspired to reply with some facts.
Our present council voted to the suggestion of cutting crossing guards and life guards from our beaches, One of our present councilor even suggested closing a firehall, Do you Mr.Larocque feel that the safety of our community and the lives of our children should come at the expense of saving tax dollars.
As far as opening our purse strings that was a total misquote from the observer it self. I suggested that we are receiving funds from the province that are not being allocated to the sources that they were intended.
Our city budget with the help of the province has $300.000 for the fight against homelessness but we have no shelters. we are sending young mothers and children to London.
Our city received over $370.000 for the up keep of our Fire Dept but that was put in a slush fund. even though the rear wheels fell of the fire engine on the way back from a call.
Since opening in May 1999, slots at Hiawatha has brought in more then $16.2 million for Sarnia and remains stable at an average of $475.000 per pay out every 3 months.
These are facts and giving the facts I'm pretty sure we can not only bring the debt down but we can place the funds we have budgeted for to the proper places.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. If we continue down this path we will be in the same state in 2011.
I love this city of Sarnia and I believe we can do better. I'm not asking that you vote for me but I am asking that you vote

Well I got a responce from the paper
here it is
Because you are a candidate for council, we cannot print your letter to the editor. However, we have a questionnaire that has been sent out to all candidates which we hope you will fill out and return. The original questionnaire was sent to you by e-mail on Oct. 17, however it was returned as "undeliverable." We tried several time to get in touch with you by phone --- calls were made On Oct. 17, Oct. 18 (twice), Oct. 20 and Oct. 23 -- but there was no answer and no voice mail were we could leave a message. The deadline for the answers was actually last Friday, however since we were unable to make contact with you, I have included the questionnaire below and ask they you return it as soon as possible.
The original message was as follows:
Dear Dean:
As part of our election coverage, The Observer will be publishing individual profiles of the 22 candidates for Sarnia council over the next few weeks.
This year’s format will feature a photo of yourself, together with some brief biographical information, and your responses to the following questions.
We already have “head and shoulder” shots of some candidates on file. If you don’t believe The Observer has a recent photo, or you would like a new one used, please drop it off at the newspaper, or email it as a JPEG to photos@theobserver.ca
We realize the brief format will be difficult for some to achieve (welcome to our world), but wordy, wandering answers will be edited at our discretion.
Please answer the following, leaving the questions in place, and reply by return email as soon as possible to
George Mathewson
